Cutting Wood

Found a company in the Netherlands which will CNC cut multiplex for me. Need to digitalise nested parts. Bateau does not have partner in Europe yet and (understanding) they do not want to send out the digital files.

Next days will be search for some freeware to create the correct drawings for them and polish up my old CAD skills.

Congrats on getting started!

Definitely build a small boat to get used to the method and learn skills based around working in fiberglass and epoxy. The plywood and carpentry is very simple, and fiberglass is easy, but it has certain tricks to learn that will greatly improve the quality of your build.

If possible, find other people through the bateau website or woodenboat's forum in your area willing to help you learn. Having someone with experience to walk you through certain steps is a big help.

One of the plethora of things I learned is to not work when you are very tired, and to step back and think about the next 3 steps ahead instead of just the one coming up. Forethought will help tremendously.

Good luck! When it is done, Id love to go for a cruise on the canals with you!
